More than a decade ago, Jerry Joyce was looking for a retirement
community for his mother, Bernice Kivett. He was aware that she was
tired of living
alone, tired of cooking meals for just herself, and tired of keeping up the
home. Together they discussed what she was looking for--a place that was
safe, clean, and comfortable. Also important was a place where she could enjoy a variety of activities and
the companionship
of others, while still living an independent life.
However, every place they looked at was not what they wanted.
Either the rooms were too small, the community too restrictive, or the
fees too expensive. To put it simply, nothing felt like home.
So Jerry decided to create a retirement community that would fit all of those needs and more for his mother and others. The result was an enjoyable, relaxed, enriched lifestyle and a more vibrant, more manageable way of life a concept we now call “Legacy Living.”
